Gossip vs. Gospel—Why Your Tongue Is Your Deadliest Weapon
*Why your idle chatter could be killing souls—and how to let your words heal instead*
I’ve gotta be real with you: gossip is the spiritual STD nobody wants to admit they’ve got—but everybody spreads.
You think you’re “just sharing news.” You’re not. You’re
Weaponizing truth into strife.
Corroding trust one whisper at a time.
Playing busybody in other people’s mess.
Leviticus 19:16 calls it “talebearing.”
Romans 3:13 calls it “poison of asps.”
And it kills.
By contrast, Gospel talk does the exact opposite:
It builds up (Philippians 1:27).
It speaks grace (Colossians 4:6).
It points people to a Savior who heals, not wounds.
So here’s a quick challenge for you—and me:
Catch the impulse. Next time you hear a juicy tidbit, pause. Ask, “Does this heal or hurt?”
Swap one rumor for one prayer. When you feel the itch to gossip, whisper instead, “God, bring grace here.”
Clean your feed. If that group chat or TikTok account lives on scandal, unfollow it. Protect your mind.
Dumb ass. Smart ass. Jackass.
Only one carried the King— the donkey, obedient and ready.
Which one are you?
If your words aren’t carrying Christ, they’re carrying poison.
Let’s slay biblical stupidity—one word at a time.
